Treatment Options for Mild Asthma Exacerbations

Managing mild asthma exacerbations involves a combination of medication and lifestyle adjustments. Here are the most common treatment options:

Short-Acting Beta-Agonists (SABAs):

Medications: Albuterol, Levalbuterol.

Function: These medications quickly relax the muscles around the airways, providing fast relief from symptoms.

Inhaled Corticosteroids (ICS):

Medications: Budesonide, Fluticasone.
Function: ICS reduce inflammation in the airways and help prevent exacerbations.

Anticholinergics:

Medication: Ipratropium.
Function: Helps open airways and reduce mucus production.

Oral Corticosteroids:

Medications: Prednisone, Methylprednisolone.
Function: Used for short-term treatment to reduce severe inflammation (less common for mild exacerbations).

Asthma Action Plan:

Description: Following a personalized asthma action plan created by a healthcare provider can help manage symptoms and adjust medications as needed.

Avoiding Triggers:

Description: Identifying and avoiding known asthma triggers such as allergens, smoke, pollution, and respiratory infections is vital.

Regular Monitoring:
